A Season of Eclipses
In this episode, Laura Barat and I continue our exploration of the August 2026 eclipse season through the lens of Aditya‑based astrology, tracing how the solar eclipse in Vivasvān sets the stage for the August 28 lunar eclipse at ~5° Dhātā, in the realm of Tumburu Gandharva.

The Lunar Eclipse Layout
The Moon sits in Dhātā, supported by Mercury and receiving strength from its host, Mars, which is in Indra. But Mercury’s placement is a little more diffficult due to its proximity to the Sun and to being starved by the Moon (by Lajjittadi aspect).
It is also in Brahma Peeta Rakṣasa which has a mythological story about the importance of the company we keep.

The Gandarva energy of this Lunar Eclipse may help us to transform ourselves in ways that are valuable and give us the motivation to break old habits and act on new ones.
Saturn’s Frugality & the Call to Essence
Saturn sits second house from the Moon’s perspective. This might emphasise frugality, the stripping away of excess and the need to conserve energy, resources, and attention. This is interesting in terms of the economy and in the current need to manage water resources brought on by the drought conditions of the Nodes spending 10º in Gandharva placements at the moment.
Use Mercury well
If there’s one thing that I took away from Laura’s analysis it was the opportunity to consciously use Mercury well this month. For example, experimenting without attachment to outcomes, not by demanding certainty, but by staying curious and not by controlling Uranus but by creating conditions where Uranus can surprise us constructively.
Jupiter–Saturn Trine Triggered by the Moon
After the Lunar Eclipse, the Moon moves through the trine between Jupiter and Saturn. This could be linked to economic or market shifts, legal frameworks, border or jurisdictional questions or long‑term agreements or structural changes as Jupiter and Saturn are both in the Ṛṣi portions of their Ādityas.
